Generational Curses

I need you to examine your Christian life for a moment. Are you having problems reaching GOD or does it appear your Christian walk has reached a stall and you can’t get a break through? You can’t hear GOD, your prayer don’t seem to get answered, all these are indicators of demonic oppression.
Have you ever noticed when you got to the doctor’s office they ask if you have any illnesses that your parents had. Often we answer yes. Bad heart, poor blood circulation, cancer, and more. Illnesses past down the family bloodline are generational curses. Often we find demonic oppression that has been in the bloodline 300 to 400 years causing sickness and depression. Can you honestly say you know what happened in your families past history.
GOD loves us but just like any loving father HE has things he expects of us, things he has commanded of us.
Ex 20:4-6
4 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand [ generations] of those who love me and keep my commandments.

This scripture is an example of how sin in our (family bloodline) past opens a curse in our life. Here your sins do not come into play, but thank you great- great grandpa. It doesn’t seem fair but GOD demands our obedience.
Ex 34:5-7
5 Then the LORD came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the LORD. 6 And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, 7 maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation ."

Even here we see our LORD showing HIS love and compassion, also HIS wrath to the disobedient. GOD takes no pleasure in allowing curses to come on us. My father took no pleasure in whipping me, but I left him no choice because I didn’t follow his instructions. Do we see a pattern here.
GOD does not put bad stuff on you and it is important for you to understand that! GOD removes HIS hand from you, as HE cannot participate with sin or anything that goes against HIS word and commands.
Job 1:9-12
9 "Does Job fear God for nothing?" Satan replied. 10 "Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. 11 But stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face."
12 The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger."
Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.

Do we really understand that GOD can have not part with sin. That GOD has to do what HE said HE would do. In Job GOD said that Job had favor with GOD to the point that GOD had placed a hedge about him so satan could not oppress him. The story of Job does not explain curses but it does show how GOD protects and bless those HE finds obedient and faithful.
Job 1:8
8 Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil."

Job went through some trials most of us could never imagine, but he stayed faithful to GOD and everything was restored that was taken from him.
The point I am trying to make is GOD cannot look upon sin yours or sin that came in from a family curse. He cannot bless what HE said is cursed. If you fail to get this you may never advance in Christ to become the person GOD wants you to be. Sickness, anger, adultery, addiction, all run through our churches today because we never understood that our enemy was running unchecked in our lives.
I went to church for years chewing tobacco having fits of anger and really never give it much thought till JESUS placed a call on my life. As I attempted to get closer to GOD I just couldn’t move forward, I wanted to, but stuff kept getting in my way. I knew something was wrong, I just didn’t know what it was. I was going to a large church, filled with powerful services and never heard one message on generational curses or how the demonic could effect my Christian life. We had a deliverance team, we had a healing team, but we never had a public teaching on how the demonic could oppress our lives.
Remember tonight we are talking about generational curses, not stuff you did to allow the enemy to oppress you but sin your past family members did. In our ministry we have found a lot of curses from witchcraft, lying, stealing, illegitimacy and sexual perversion passed through the bloodline. Each of these carry a curse and allow satan to oppress us.
Deut 23:2
2 No one born of a forbidden marriage nor any of his descendants may enter the assembly of the LORD, even down to the tenth generation .

Having a hard time getting to church or reading the word this may be why. Simple to fix, but you have to take action to rid yourself of the problem. I ministered to a person and the demon of poverty told me he had been in the family for four generations (160 years), why? No one told him to leave. We are equipping the body of Christ to do just that, to take authority over our lives and live a victorious.
